Sejfo, who delivers industrial automation for tough requirements, has received a large order for new robot and conveyor solutions to Scania new foundry in Södertälje. The investment in a completely new foundry is one of Scania's single largest investments in a completely new industrial plant.

15 large robots shall be installed to handle engine and cylinder blocks for trucks. Included in the scope is a conveyor solution with over 160 smart motors, 3D vision and state of the art AI software to read text.

- We are extremely proud and happy to be a part of Scania's large investment in production in Sweden. The expertise and experience of our employees, innovative modern technology, smart cost-effective solutions and high delivery capacity, we contribute to make investments like this possible for future production in Sweden, says Karl Ingström, sales manager at Sejfo.

The overall commitment includes project management, design, manufacture, assembly, programming, commissioning and documentation of the equipment.

The energy consumption per tonne produced, is estimated to be 50 percent lower than at the current foundry. The biggest energy gains are made through improvements in the foundry process and recovery of the heat it generates.

With the introduction of new methods for material handling and recycling, transport also decreases in relation to the number of units manufactured. Here, the single largest energy saving is achieved by recycling the sand used for the production of molds, where 70 percent of the sand will be reused.

The equipment will be delivered from Sejfo to Scania beginning Q3, 2020.
